In Sloneek, the system automatically recognizes public holidays based on the employee’s assigned country.
These days are treated as non-working days with a time fund of 0 hours, which means that it’s not possible to record absences (such as vacation) on those dates.

🧭 How to proceed if your employees work in a shift regime
For employees working in shift or continuous operation, there may be cases where a public holiday should be considered a regular working day — for example, if the employee is scheduled to work on that day.
In such cases, we recommend the following steps:
Create (or assign) an annual working time type,
where you can define whether public holidays should be included as working days.Once this working time type is assigned, the system will allow absences (such as vacation) to be entered on public holidays.
➡️ See how to manage annual working time types in this article.
💡 Summary:
If employees work in a shift regime, assign them a working time type where holidays are considered working days. This will enable you to record vacation on those dates.
For standard contracts, Sloneek automatically treats public holidays as non-working days, and therefore absences cannot be entered.
